Revamp the old clothes into trendy items

Do you feel exasperated looking at identical clothes in your wardrobe? What if they don't fit you anymore, or they are not in fashion, or they simply do not make you smile? Rather than throw away or give away your old stuff, you can upcycle them into something novel and interesting. Upcycling is the practice of turning trash into gold, upgrading rejected or useless stuff to things of more worth. It is an effective way to reuse your old clothes and give them another destination.

Upcycle an old T-shirt to make yourself a tote bag

It will not require more than scissors and some basic sewing knowledge for this. First, cut the sleeves and then the neckline of the T-shirt so that you have a rectangle. Turn it inside out and then sew the bottom closed. Pick it up, flip it over, and there you have a bag as simple as a tote bag. Moreover, you can decorate it with a painting, attach patches, or embroider it for more individuality.

Create a pillow using an old sweater

If you’ve got a sweater that is too worn out or has holes in it, you can turn it into a plush and soft pillow. Discard the sweater in two squares, keeping some seams space between them. Sew them together along three edges, making sure to leave one edge open. Use cotton batting, old clothes, or other filling materials to fill up your pillow. Stitch the opening shut and enjoy your pillow now.

Take some old jeans and transform them into a denim skirt

If your jeans are too tight, too loose, or have a hole in them, make this into a cute shift denim skirt. The first step is to get rid of the legs. The jeans need to be at the length you want them to be for the skirt. Opening up the inseams, the bottom sides will be visible. Take a triangle piece from one leg and glue it to the front of the skirt, disguising the crotch area. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the back end of the skirt. Fringe the edges and here is a new denim skirt.

Sew a headband from an older scarf

If the scarf is too long, too short, or too thin, why not turn it into a chic headband? Tie a knot at one end of the scarf and fold the scarf in half lengthwise. The scarf around your head and do a final knot on the other side. Fold the ends under the knot and make sure that it is correctly situated on your head. If you want to make it even more special, you can add charms, beads, buttons, and flowers to your knot.

Stitch a top and a skirt from an old dress

If your dress is too long, too short, or too tight, transforming it into a two-piece outfit is also an option. Leave the waistline intact, but cut the fabric to allow for seaming. Mixed top and the skirt separately, hem the bottom. By the way, you can include elastic in both the waistband of the skirt and the neckline of the top for a better fit. With the top and the skirt, you may combine them with other pieces of your wardrobe.

That is one of a kind of upcycling that you can do with clothing. Upcycling is a fun and artsy way to consume less and get more. You will also be able to embody your personality and style by what you wear. That is why, the next time you catch yourself tossing away old clothes, consider giving them another chance by redesigning them.
